Indian powerhouse Eros International has acquired international rights to Ram Gopal Varma's upcoming Sarkar Raaj.
Starring the hot family trio of Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai, the film is a sequel to Varma's award-winning Sarkar, which delves into the links between politicians and the underworld in modern-day Mumbai.
While Sarkar focuses on the complexities of a powerful family, the sequel follows the transition of power from father to son. In real life, Abhishek Bachchan is the son of Amitabh Bachchan and is married to Aishwarya Rai.
Sarkar Raaj will be released in cinemas worldwide in May 2008.
Eros is also selling star-studded Bollywood blockbuster Om Shanti Om, which screens here in the Berlinale Special section. Superstar Shah Rukh Khan was in Berlin yesterday to support the film, which also features a host of Bollywood stars playing themselves including the Bachchans, Sanjay Dutt and Hrithik Roshan.
