India’s Eros International has struck a deal to handle international distribution of four films produced by Viacom18 Motion Pictures.

The first film under the deal will be Mary Kom, a biopic of the Indian female boxer, which will be released on more than 250 screens outside India on September 5. Directed by Omung Kumar and starring Priyanka Chopra, the film receives its world premiere at the upcoming Toronto film festival.

The other three pictures covered by the deal include: Gabbar, directed by Krish and starring Akshay Kumar; Golu Pappu, directed by Kabir Sadanand and starring Dimple Kapadia, Vir Das and Kunal Roy Kapoor; and Santa Banta, directed by Akashdeep Sabir and starring Boman Irani and Vir Das.

“We are pleased to work with Viacom18 to present these highly anticipated films to overseas audiences. With our strong international distribution network and marketing capabilities, we anticipate that these films will have successful runs in overseas markets,” said Eros president, marketing and distribution, Pranab Kapadia.

Viacom18 Motion Pictures COO Ajit Andhare said: “Indian cinema caters to audiences not just in India, but globally. This multi-film alliance with Eros will provide the Indian fan base abroad a chance to experience our films that are rich in content and deliver cutting-edge narratives.”

Viacom18 Motion Pictures is a division of Viacom 18 Media, a joint venture between Viacom Inc and India’s Network18 Group. Over the past few years, the company has produced hits such as Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Gangs Of Wasseypur and Kahaani.
