Three industry events at the forthcoming Berlinale (February 6-17) are among 36 initiatives which have been awarded over Euros 2.8m by the European Commission's MEDIA Programme as part of its support for promotional measures and film festivals.
The Berlin-based events are: the European Film Promotion's (EFP) Shooting Stars showcase of rising acting talent; Linking Market Forces' co-financing platform CONTACT Berlin 2002; and Script House's European Pitch Point
This latest round of funding for worldwide events promoting European cinema between January and June 2002 has also supported Rotterdam Film Festival's Cinemart co-production forum; the Celtic Film & Television Festival; EFP's producers umbrella stand at the AFM; Media Salles' "Focus On Europe" presentation at ShoWest; the Danish Producers Association's Nordic Screenings and TV Festival; the Cartoon Movie co-production forum for animation feature films; and the first Venice International TV Festival.
Among the 15 European festivals backed by MEDIA Promotion are the Stuttgarter Filmwinter, Berlin's Transmediale, Angers' Premiers Plans Festival, the Clermont Ferrand Short Film Festival, the Goteborg Film Festival, and the European Youth Film Festival of Flanders.
