The European Documentary Network (EDN) is collaborating with the Berlinale's European Film Market (EFM) to provide a new initiative for documentary sellers entitled Meet The Docs.
Meet The Docs will serve as a connecting platform for all documentary sellers, buyers, and directors offering a meeting place and a general information service dedicated to documentaries. It will be located on the first floor of the EFM's second market venue in the Marriott Hotel.
'Overall, it can be very helpful for the documentary industry because the Berlinale's market is mainly about fiction,' EDN's Hanne Skjodt told Screen Daily in an exclusive interview, 'if you are a small one-man or three-man company, it will be good to have a focus and a meeting place at the market.'
There are also plans to organise receptions and informal sessions for documentary sellers with sales agents and distributors.
'We want everyone in the documentary industry to feel welcome at our stand and use it in order to expand their own professional network,' Skojdt added.
The Meet The Docs stand will be staffed throughout the duration of the EFM with EDN staff having specific knowledge of the international documentary scene.
Based in Denmark, the EDN has over 1,000 members from 60 countries.
