Juliette Binoche and Federal Councillor Doris Leuthard to be guests of honor at Zurich Film Festival’s ‘Women of Impact’ event.
Oscar-winning French actress Juliette Binoche is to be the guest of honour at the Zurich Film Festival ‘Women of Impact’ dinner on Sept 26.
The star of The English Patient, Chocolat and this year’s Clouds of Sils Maria will be interviewed about her life and career at the event.
Also in the spotlight that evening will be Federal Councillor Doris Leuthard, a politician and lawyer who has been a member of the Swiss Federal Council since 2006. She will speak about her work in the political realm.
A statement from the festival said: “The event acknowledges those of unique talent and singular dedication who have risen to the top of their field.
“Despite the strides women have made in every branch of society in recent years, the film industry is still very much a male domain; female directors, producers and studio bosses remain the exception.
“In acknowledgment, many well-known women from the worlds of culture, economics and politics will gather in Zurich for the celebration.”
Fatih Akin
Seperately, Fatih Akin, director of The Cut, is to present the film at the festival on Oct 2.
The German director will also take part in a ZFF Masters session on the same day.
