CPH:DOX will open on Nov 5 with the world premiere of Anders Ostergaard’s 1989.
For the first time, the film will also be simulcast throughout Denmark and in 15 cinemas across European cities including Oslo, Prague, Brussels, Dublin, Kiev, Helsinki, Moscow, St. Petersburg. Petersburg, Vladivostok, Porto and Belgrade.
The film is about the fall of the Iron Curtain; it follows the story of a young East German couple who hope to escape to the West through Hungary after they hear about Hungary’s new young prime minister, Miklos Nemeth, abandoning Hungary’s border to the ire of the Communists. The documentary explores the meetings that then led to the fall of the Berlin Wall 25 years ago.
Ostergaard was previously Oscar nominated for Burma VJ.
CPH:DOX runs Nov 6-16 and the full programme will be announced Monday.
