As it heads into its second year, the Curacao International Film Festival Rotterdam is starting a new competition for emerging talents from region around the Caribbean Sea.
Curacao IFFR will collaborate with festivals and commissions such as the Instituto Cubano del Arte e Industria Cinematográficos, Trinidad &Tobago Film Festival and the Jamaica Promotions Corporation and talks with two other parties are currently still ongoing.
The winner of the new Yellow Robin Award will be selected by a jury of three international experts. The winner will receive $10,000 cash and see their film screen at the International Film Festival Rotterdam in 2014 (they will also get travel to and accomodation in Rotterdam).
The second Curacao IFFR runs April 4-7. The festival also has a short film competition for young local filmmakers aged 14 to 23.
The Yellow Robin Award 2013 jury is made up of Rutger Wolfson (Director of International Film Festival Rotterdam), David Pinedo (film critic and script advisor) and Bernadette Heiligers (text producer and public relations expert).
The festival, based in Willemstad, Curacao, is a joint effort from the IFFR and the Fundashon Bon Intenshon.
