The T-Mobile New Horizons International Film Festival in Wroclaw, Poland has announced the juries for its four competitions.
The main New Horizons International Competition will be judged by filmmakers Urszula Antoniak (Code Blue), Naomi Kawase (The Mourning Forest), Amat Escalante (Los Bastardos), Lav Diaz (Century of Birthing) and Wrocław-based Przemysław Wojcieszek (Secret). They will award a prize with €20,000 and a distribution guarantee in Poland.
The Films On Art International Competition (with a €10.000 prize and distribution guarantee) will be judged by director James Benning (Ruhr) [pictured], visual artist Zbigniew Libera, actress Susanne Sachsse (Bruce LaBruce’s The Raspberry Reich) and festival programmers Rebecca De Pas (FID Marseille) and Sean Farnel.
Also the festival will have juries for the first time in its short film competitions. The Polish Shorts will be judged by Berlinale Generation’s Florian Weghorn, journalist Ed Lawrenson and the London Film Academy’s Anna MacDonald. (The LFA will give a scholarship prize in this competition.)
The jury for the European Shorts Competition is comprised of composer Antoni Komasa-Łazarkiewicz (In Darkness), Urszula Skassa (short films acquisition executive for Canal+ Poland), and director Jakub Czekaj (Don’t be Afraid of the Dark Room).
