Panama is planning to host its first international film festival in April 2012.

More than 150 journalists and industry players are expected to attend.

The IFF Panama will have a creative advisory board led by Panamanian filmmakers and locals from the entertainment industry. Panamanian actor and singer Rubén Blades has agreed to work with the festival.

The General Advisor of the Panama Tourist Authority (ATP), Ernesto Orillac, said: “The International Film Festival to take place in Panama in 2012 is another unique opportunity to show the world the amazing things that are happening in Panama. Our country has different regions with incredible contrasts and colours and to show it through films that are seen around the world is for us a great way of promoting the beauties of Panama.”
