Utrecht will host a Focus on Turkish Cinema event Sept 27-Oct 1 as a joint initiative of Istanbul Film Festival – Meetings on the Bridge and Netherlands Film Festival – Holland Film Meeting.
The Government of the Turkish Republic is supporting the event, which marks the 400th anniversary of the start of diplomatic relations between Turkey and the Netherlands.
The Co-productions Panel, which held its first instalment in April 12 during Istanbul Film Festival, will again take place on Sept 27 during Holland Film Meeting. The closed meeting will include fund managers, producers, broadcasters and distributors. Also, Turkish experts will start with a briefing on their local industry.
The directors and producers of Motherland (Anayurdu–Senem Tüzen), South Facing Wall (Güneye Bakan Duvar –Kutluğ Ataman) and Dust Cloth (Toz Bezi–Ahu Öztürk), selected from the Meeting on the Bridge projects, will participate in Utrecht.
The Cinema Militan Lecture panel held annually during Holland Film Meeting will host Turkish director Semih Kaplanoğlu [pictured]. His trilogy of Egg, Milk and Honey will be shown during the festival.
