Darren Aronofsky serves as international jury president.
Finnish visual artist Eija-Liisa Ahtila, American composter/artist/director David Byrne, American director Todd Haynes [pictured], Italian director Mario Martone, Italian actress Alba Rohrwacher and French writer/director André Téchiné have joined the international jury for the competition of the 68th Venice International Film Festival.
As previously reported, Darren Aronofsky will serve as jury president.
Haynes was in Competition in Venice with 2007’s I’m Not Here (which won a special jury prize and best actress for Cate Blanchett) and with 2002’s Far From Heaven (best actress for Julianne Moore). Martone was in Competition in Venice last year with We Believed (Noi Credevamo) and he won the Jury prize in 1992 for his debut Death of a Neapolitan Mathematician. Techine made his Venice debut in 1969 with Pauline is Leaving.
The jury will present the following awards on Sept 10: the Golden Lion for Best Film, the Silver Lion for Best Director, the Special Jury Prize, the Coppa Volpi for Best Actor, the Coppa Volpi for Best Actress, the Marcello Mastroianni Award for Best New Young Actor or Actress, the Osella for Best Technical Contribution, and the Osella for Best Screenplay.
Venice runs Aug 31-Sept 10.
