Film screens at Berlinale in Generation section.
Film Movement has acquired North American rights to Off White Lies, the directorial debut of Maya Kenig.
The film is loosely based on family events that she experienced as a young mother during the 2006 war between Israel and Lebanon.
The film screens at the Generation section of the Berlinale, and Film Movement plans a theatrical opening in New York in the third quarter of 2012.
The deal was negotiated by Film Movement’s Vice President of Acquisitions and Distribution Rebeca Conget, and Virginie Devesa and Keiko Funato from the newly formed French sales company Alpha Violet.
“We love to discover new talent and promote emerging filmmakers with a distinct point of view. Maya Kenig is a prime example of that, and we know her Off-White Lies will surely charm North American audiences,” said Conget.
The film has already won awards at the Jerusalem Film Festival and is nominated for 7 Israeli Academy Awards.
