Film Movement will release Dror Zahavi’s For My Father this winter after acquiring US rights to the Israeli Academy Awards nominee.
The film was nominated in seven categories and has been a favourite on the festival circuit, earning the Moscow International Film festival audience award and the Grand Prix award at the Sofia International Film festival, among others.
For My Father tells of a Palestinian suicide bomber who falls for an alienated Orthdodox Jewish woman over the course of 48 hours while his handlers work remotely to repair the faulty device strapped to his body.
Film Movement president Adley Gartenstein negotiated the deal with Paco Alvarez of Forward Motion Entertainment Corp. Film Movement plans a limited theatrical release followed by VOD.
