Easternlight is selling the feature directorial debut of cinematographer and Gus Van Sant collaborator Rain Li.
Beijing, New York stars Lin Chiling, Liu Ye and Richard de Klerk and is shot by Chris Doyle.
The story follows a Chinese girl who travels to New York to start a new life and is torn between the man she left behind and the new lover she meets in the US.
“Rain Li is a unique filmmaker who fully understands the balance between western and eastern cultures and the value of creating commercially viable projects that remain true to their powerful artistic integrity,” said Elliot Tong, managing director of Arclight Films’ Hong Kong office.
“We’re thrilled to be presenting Beijing, New York to buyers for the first time at Hong Kong Filmart and are confident the film’s captivating story and high production value will satisfy the appetites of audiences across the globe.”
