French sales outfit Films Distribution has acquired the debut feature from Nic Balthazar, Ben X.
The film is the story of a 17-year-old autistic boy who finds solace in online gaming while in real life being violently harassed by two school bullies. His revenge against the kids ultimately takes an unexpected turn.
Ben X was recently in competition at the Montreal World Film Festival where it took the Grand Prize of the Americas, the Audience Award and the Ecumenical Prize.
The film, adapted by Balthazar from his own book and stage play, stars Greg Timmermans, Laura Verlinden, Marijke Pinoy, Pol Goossen, Titus De Voogdt and Maarten Claeyssens.
