Top brass at the 48th Chicago International Film Festival will present the award to director and Chicago native Robert Zemeckis at the closing night ceremony on Oct 25.
The Founder’s Award is given to a film across all categories that “capture[s] the spirit of the Chicago International Film Festival for its unique and innovative approach to the art of the moving image.”
“Flight has all the ingredients that make for a perfect production: a compelling story, excellent performances from a great ensemble cast and Mr Zemeckis’ bold direction,” said Chicago International Film Festival founder and artistic director Michael Kutza. “It delivers at all levels. Flight is unpredictable, memorable, a winner.”
Last year’s recipient of the Founder’s Award was The Artist.
