Per Fly's critics and audience darling The Inheritance swept the Danish Film Academy's Robert ceremony on Sunday night taking six awards including best film, best director and best actor for Ulrich Thomsen. It also won best supporting actress and actor for veterans Ghita Noerby and Peter Steen, best music for Halfdan E as well as the audience award.
This marks the second time Per Fly has dominated the Robert awards, as his feature debut The Bench took the five major awards three years ago. His hit rate is even more impressive considering this year's crop of films, which left his biggest competitor, Lars von Trier's Dogville, with best script and best costume design.
The evening's most enthusiastic receptions went to Birthe Neumann, when she picked up her best actress award for Morten Arnfred's Move Me, and 78-year-old actress Helle Virkner, who received an honorary award for her 60 plus year long career. Anders Gustafsson was also a popular winner in the best children's-family film category, where his Berlin 14plus entry Scratch won.
However, Jannik Johansen's box-office hit Stealing Rembrandt left empty handed and Anders Thomas Jensen's The Green Butchers had to do with an award for best make-up.
Meanwhile Thomas Vinterberg's It's All About Love took most of the technical awards including best cinematography and set design, leaving Christoffer Boe's acclaimed Reconstruction with awards for best editing and sound design.
