John Malkovich stars in the adaptation of JM Coetzee's lauded South-Africa set novel, about a disgraced professor who is confronted with violence on his daughter's rural farm.
The deal is for all rights within Canada and was negotiated between Fortissimo's co-chairman Michael J. Werner, attorney Andrew Hurwitz and Maximum's Bryan Gliserman and Richard Rapkowski.
Werner said: 'We are thrilled that our friends at Maximum Films immediately recognized the passion and the power of this incredible adaptation of this award winning work of literature. The film couldn't be in better hands in Canada.'
Fortissimo's Toronto slate also includes Every Little Step and Ashes Of Time Redux, $9.99, Country Wedding, Laila's Birthday, Native Dancer, Tokyo Sonata, Serbis, Food Inc., Unmistaken Child and Gigantic.
