Fox International Productions, Beijing-based Huayi Brothers and Hong Kong’s Sundream Motion Pictures are co-producing the second feature to be directed by Tony Chan and Wing Shya, Love In Space.
A follow-up to their 2010 hit romantic comedy Hot Summer Days, the film will start shooting in Beijing on March 8 for a September 2011 release. It will also partly shoot in Hong Kong and Australia.
The star-studded cast includes Hong Kong’s Aaron Kwok, Eason Chan and Angelababy, Chinese actress Xu Fan (Aftershock) and Taiwanese actress Kwai Lun-mei.
Huayi Brothers will handle distribution in China, while Fox and Sundream will share distribution in Hong Kong. Fox will handle international distribution, including a release in North America.
Fox and Huayi previously teamed on Hot Summer Days, a low-budget production which grossed more than $20m on the mainland last year.
Fruit Chan, who produced Hot Summer Days, is again producing Love In Space with Wang Zhongjun and Stephen Ng as executive producers, Wang Zhonglei as co-executive producer and Zhang Dajun, Bernard Yang and Tom Cheung as co-producers.
