Pathe's comedy Welcome To The Sticks saw off all-comers in 2008, garnering a record-breaking 20.5 million admissions.
The second biggest film of the year was Pathe's Asterix At The Olympic Games with 6.8 million admissions. Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull is the highest non-French film with 4.2 million admissions, but Sony's Quantum Of Solace is hot on Indy's dusty heels with 3.5 million after two weeks on release.
Despite the success of Welcome To The Sticks, French admissions are down 0.7% year-on-year to 152.7 million until October 31.
