The European Film Academy has revealed the 45 films selected for this year’s European Film Awards with France gaining 11 nods (8 of which are co-productions) followed by Germany and Spain.
EFA members will now vote for their selections and the nominations will be announced on November 5 at the Seville European Film Festival. The 24th European Film Awards will be presented in Berlin on December 3.
Out of the 32 countries represented, France leads the pack with 11 titles (8 co-productions) including The Artist, Tomboy and The Kid With A Bike. Germany follows with 7 (4 co-productions) and Spain with 4.
The UK has three films in contention, We Need To Talk About Kevin, Neds and The King’s Speech.
The list is made up by the 20 countries with the most EFA members, which have voted one national film directly onto the list, while further films were added by EFA board members and experts Pierre-Henri Deleau (France), Marit Kapla (Sweden), Stefan Kitanov (Bulgaria), Derek Malcolm (UK), and Elma Tataragic (Bosnia & Herzegovina).
