The Karlovy Vary International Film Festival welcomed Cary Fukunaga yesterday for a special event showcasing the latest short film from the director of such films as Sin Nombre and Jane Eyre.
Sleepwalkers In The Rift, made in association with fashion brand luxury Maiyet, stars Hayley Bennett – due to be soon seen in Terrence Malick’s Untitled New Project - as a young woman who heads to East Africa to stay with grandparents she has never met. There she meets guide Fares Fares and soon their paths are drawn together.
Semi-improvised and shot over three days, the film is split over eight parts and makes full use of the Kenyan location.
Screening at Karlovy Vary’s famous Market Collonade, assembled guests took turns to watch each individual part on special TV booths.
