Completion guarantees company Film Finances Inc has hired Jane Fry as managing director, based in the company’s Johannesburg office.
Fry spent 15 years at Endemol South Africa.
The company is headquartered in Los Angeles and also has offices in the UK, Canada, Australia, Japan, Germany, and Scandinavia.
In addition to providing completion bonds locally, Film Finances SA also is able to offer advance funding against South Africa’s Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) rebate.
“I am very happy to be part of such a well-known, prestigious organisation,” said Fry. “I have met a lot of the team from around the world and they are a great group of people. I am looking forward to representing them in South Africa, where I can support and encourage foreign projects to use South Africa as a top destination as well as servicing and supporting the growing local industry with what we do.”
“We are very enthusiastic about the future of the South African film industry,” added Film Finances Inc co-CEO Kurt Woolner.
“South Africa has been an appealing shooting location for some time because of its well-developed infrastructure and government support. This, coupled with the rapidly developing local film industry, made it an easy decision for us to open a fully-integrated Film Finances office.”
Film Finances SA is currently bonding Neill Blomkamp’s sci-fi film Chappie, now in pre-production; as well as Cape Town-based production The Giver to star Meryl Streep and Jeff Bridges.
