Future Films, the UK finance and production company, has launched a joint film fund with Canadian finance company Mediabiz International to invest in co-productions from the UK, Europe and Canada.
The fund, which is expected to reach $133m (€90m), will cash flow tax credits, pre-sales and gap funding, as well as taking advantage of the UK/European Canadian bi-lateral co-production treaty.
Future Films will lead the searching for projects through its London and Los Angeles offices, whilst Mediabiz will manage the fund in Canada.
Stephen Margolis (pictured), chief executive of Future Films, said: “For the first time, this will enable us to fully finance projects without being dependant on other parties.”
Mediabiz International President Karine Martin added: “After 10 years of having raised equity for film and television, Mediabiz can offer an additional financial service to the industry.”
