Visit Films has acquired international rights to Joe Swanberg’s Alexander The Last following the film’s world premiere at the SXSW Film Festival.
Visit Films’ Ryan Kampe and Sylvain Tron will commence talks with buyers in Cannes next month.
Alexander The Last is a sensual and intimate portrait of the marriage between an artistic young couple and stars Jess Weixler, Justin Rice, Barlow Jacobs, Josh Hamilton, Jane Adams and Amy Seimetz.
All the actors collaborated on the script with Swanberg, whose directing credits include Hannah Takes The Stairs, Nights And Weekends, and LOL.
Anish Savjani and Noah Baumbach produced Alexander The Last, which IFC released in North America on VOD through its Festival Direct division simultaneously with the premiere at SXSW.
“Joe has been maturing in his work and this represents a major evolution emotionally and structurally,” Kampe said. “With the film-makers as partners, we are hoping to pioneer new models in international distribution as Joe has done in the United States, by pushing the boundaries of typical release windows and strategies.
“We have been very successful this year integrating regional film festivals into our release plans and believe Alexander The Last will fit into this perfectly.”
Visit Films’ slate includes The Missing Person, You Wont Miss Me, Kimjongilia, The Immaculate Conception Of Little Dizzle, Sorry, Thanks and the UK film Helen.
