Hot off its success with The King’s Speech, Japan’s Gaga Corporation has announced a string of further acquisitions, including Pina from Hanway and The Devil’s Double from Corsan.

The company, which has also acquired The Grandmasters from Fortissimo Films, is also launching Japanese titles in Cannes including Hirokazu Kore-eda’s I Wish, Paradise

Kiss, based on the comic by Ai Yazawa and Berlinale Panorama selection Into The White Night. Gaga is handling I Wish in Asia while Wild Bunch handles sales in the rest of the world.

Despite the tsunami and nuclear crisis that recently hit Japan, The King’s Speech had grossed $19.7m in the territory as of May 11, 2011, the best result for an Academy Award best picture winner in the past five years. The film opened on Feb 26 and witnessed a big drop following the natural disasters, but picked up by 167% in its second week.
