Gaga Corporation has bought Japanese rights to Tomas Alfredson’s Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy from StudioCanal. The deal closed at the Toronto International Film Festival between StudioCanal’s Harold Van Lier and Gaga’s Tom Yoda.
The last major remaining territory to sell on the Working Title film is Korea and a deal is imminent.
Tinker Tailor screened in competition at the Venice Film Festival and opens this weekend in the UK through StudioCanal. Focus Features has US rights and will open it on Dec 9. Starring Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, Tom Hardy and Mark Strong, the film is an adaptation of John Le Carre’s classic Cold War thriller.

Meanwhile StudioCanal also closed three key deals in Toronto on La Delicatesse, the romantic comedy starring Audrey Tautou which StudioCanal launched at Cannes this year. Concorde took Germany, eOne/Seville took Canada and Transmission bought Australia. The film opens in France on Dec 21.
