Ylstra is a veteran of NPS, Fine BV, and Dutch Ministry of Culture.
Gamila Ylstra has been appointed as the new general director of the Binger Filmlab in Amsterdam.
Ido Abram had been heading up the Binger; he departs on May 1 to join the eye Film Instituate Netherlands.
Ylstra will take her new post on September 1. Director/producer Ate de Jong will serve as interim director between May and September.
Ylstra’s past positions include editor in chief for public broadcaster NPS Television, director of film investment company Fine BV., and head of the Film Division of the Dutch Ministry of Culture. She studied cultural anthropology at the University of Amsterdam and then studied camera and directing at Tokyo’s Film Academy. She has also made documentary films.
The Binger runs intensive labs for Dutch and international directors and screenwriters.
