The British Academy Of Film And Television Arts Los Angeles (BAFTA/LA) will give its annual Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award for Excellence In Film to George Lucas. The award will be presented during a gala event in LA on Nov 10.
Since the mid-1970s, Lucas has directed and/or produced nine films on location in the UK including the Indiana Jones trilogy, the first Star Wars trilogy and The Phantom Menace, Labyrinth and Willow.
Lucas is currently in post-production on Star Wars: Episode II, part of which will be shot in the UK, although most was shot in Australia. It is scheduled for release in summer 2002.
