At the second DAB Co-Production Forum in Yerevan, the Hubert Bals Fund Award has been given to Washington by Andro Sakvarelidze & Giga Chkheidze of Georgia.
Washington was named best out of the 12 projects presented and will get the prize money of $9,970 (Euros 5,000) to support development.
Washington is seen through the eyes of a 10-year-old Georgian boy who fantasises about an imaginary trip inspired by the portrait of George Washington on a one-dollar US bill. The boys learns that money causes similar problems everywhere.Hubert Bals Fund Manager Bianca Taal said: ' Washington stood out in terms of original storytelling and a vivid pitch highlighting the visual approach of the film. The project raises the question of what those who are long gone would have to say and tell and looks at questions of globalism with a unique approach.'
