The Red Baron producers Dan Maag and Thomas Reisser of Niama Filmproduktion are teaming up the UK's Paul Knight and Richard Carpenter of Catweazle Ltd. for a feature film based on the 1970s cult international hit TV series Catweazle.
Based on Carpenter's original series about the magical adventures of the eccentric and irascible wizard Catweazle who accidentally travels through time whilst on the run from the invading Normans in 1066, the film will be directed by John Henderson (The Borrowers) and shot in the UK and Germany from September to November 2007.
Casting by Henderson and Ros Hubbard is currently underway, and negotiations have already begun with major international distributors.
Catweazle marks the second project for Maag and Reiser's young Stuttgart-based company after The Red Baron which will be released theatrically in Germany by US major Warner Bros later this year. Knight and Carpenter's previous credits as producers include Robin Hood, Black Beauty and The Borrowers.
