The European representatives of such US distributors as The Weinstein Company, Paramount Vantage, and Miramax are among over 50 international film buyers attending the German Films Previews showcase which are being held for the first time in Cologne from July 12 until the weekend.
Other companies confirmed as coming to Cologne include eight UK distributors such as ICA Films, Momentum Pictures, Optimum Releasing, as well as Norway's Fidalgo, Belgium's Lumiere Distribution, Mexico's Constellation Pictures, Hungary's Budapest Film, and Russia's Most Media. The event has also attracted six buyers each from Italy and Spain.
The participants will be able to see Simon Gross's Mirage (Fata Morgana), which won the Young German Cinema Support Award at last month's Munich Film Festival, as well as new films by Veit Helmer (Absurdistan), Marcus H. Rosenmueller (Best Times), Ulrike von Ribbeck (Sooner Or Later), Maggie Peren (Special Escort) and Rudolf Schweiger (Snipers Valley).
The Previews programme of 17 titles from eight German sales companies also includes screenings of Stanislaw Mucha's Hope, which premiered in Karlovy Vary last week, Kenneth Bi's second feature The Drummer, and Heesok Sohn's debut Porno!Melo!Drama! as well as promo reels of Flame & Citron and The Turtle's Song.
