Sean Rowley’s hugely popular UK club night Guilty Pleasures is expanding into film.
The first Guilty Pleasures Cinema Party will off what organisers call “two spectacular nights of Madonna mayhem” as Desperately Seeking Susan (1985) is screened during six-hour parties at the Troxy in East London.
Organisers promise that the concept brings together the worlds of “music, cinema, cabaret, dance, performance and pop.” Screen predicts a lot of jelly bracelets, ’80s lace outfits and bad Madonna perms, as it should be.
Tickets can be booked for the Aug 24-Aug 25 screenings here. The parties are presented with Time Out Live and MGM HD.
Rowley says: “We’re bringing something new to the table. Guilty Pleasures Cinema Party takes a film with a cracking soundtrack, and uses that as the focus for the entire event. So on the night we have a much-loved film, and then, using that as our theme, we throw in Guilty Pleasures DJs, live music, dancers and interactive performance.”
