Sally Potter’s snapshot of 1960s London [pictured] will kick off the Silicon Valley event on Feb 26 and Deepa Mehta’s Midnight’s Children will close the festival on Mar 10.
Cinequest will showcase contemporary films, restored classics, new technology and some of the biggest names in entertainment.
Harrison Ford and Midnight’s Children author Salman Rushdie will travel to San Jose where they will be presented with the Maverick Spirit Award.
Screenings will include the US premiere of Peter Webber’s Emperor starring Oscar nominee Tommy Lee Jones and Matthew Fox and the second season of Picture The Possibilities, which encompasses panels and an international youth film-maker showcase.
Cinequest will also feature state-of-the-art technology demonstrations and show 4K restored classics such as Taxi Driver, Lawrence Of Arabia and Dr Strangelove.
