Goldcrest Films International has taken on worldwide sales for Cheerful Weather for the Wedding, the feature directorial debut of Donald Rice.
Goldcrest will aso provide audio post production services on the film, via Goldcrest Post London.
Rice, the son of Tim Rice who directed the popular short I Am Bob, wrote the screenplay with Mary Henely Magill, adapted from the novel by Julia Strachey.
Teun Hilte (Black Book) produces.
The cast features Felicity Jones, Elizabeth McGovern, Mackenzie Crook, Luke Treadaway and Julian Wadham.
The story is about a family wedding at a manor house, with both cheer and chaos; Felicity Jones plays the bride, who is surprised when a former lover (Treadaway) appears.
Goldcrest Films International Head of Films Penny Wolf said: “This is a beautifully directed film with all the special touches and fine nuances that a romantic English comedy of manners must have. I’m delighted that Donald and Teun are allowing us to present this wonderful film to the international marketplace.”
Hilte added, “It is an absolute pleasure to be working with Penny and her team at Goldcrest. Their enthusiasm for the film has been a great motivator for the cast and crew. With Goldcrest’s remarkable track record of successfully bringing classy, British cinema to the market, I feel we are in very good hands indeed.”
Goldcrest’s sales slate also includes Justin Chadwick’s The First Grader and Todd Solondz’s Dark Horse.
