Hong Kong-based Golden Network has added two projects to its AFM slate - Malaysian animated feature Seefood and Zhang Meng’s The Piano In A Factory, which recently scooped the best actor prize at the Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF).
Directed by Goh Aun Hoe, Seefood is a CG animation about a shark pup who tries to rescue his unhatched brothers and sisters. The film is the first feature production from Malaysian animation house Silver Ant, which has previously handled outsourcing work for Japanese productions, and is co-produced with Al Jazeera Children’s Channel.
A Hong Kong-China-Korea co-production, The Piano In A Factory stars Wang Qianyuan, Qin Hailu and Jang Shin-yeong in the story of a man who tries to build a piano to keep his daughter from leaving him to live with his ex-wife. Wang picked up the best actor award at TIFF.
