The tenth edition of the Golden Trailer Awards will take place this evening (June 4) at the Director’s Guild of America in Los Angeles.
Comedian, actor and writer Dean Edwards will host the live event, which celebrates the art of movie promotion. There are 61 categories to be awarded including Best Action Trailer and Best Summer Blockbuster.
This year, the award for Best Voice Over has been renamed the Don LaFontaine Award for Best Voice Over, to honor the memory of the man whose voice set the industry standard for trailer narration. LaFontaine passed away in 2008.
The jury includes Rosario Dawson and co-writers Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant as well as independent film producer Jonathan Gray.
Evelyn Brady-Watters, one of the event’s founder, said: “In the ten years since we established the Golden Trailer Awards, not only have we become a fixture in the industry, but trailers themselves have emerged as the single most important and creative element of movie marketing. Worldwide, they are now one of the most popular categories of online streaming video, and are viewed as a form of entertainment in and of themselves.”
