Award winning Green Butchers writer and director Anders Thomas Jensen is readying his next feature, an as yet untitled comedy drama.

Veteran producer Tivi Magnusson is currently in the final stages of financing the film, which has been nicknamed AT3. It will be the third installment in the Danish director's trilogy following Flickering Lights (2000) and The Green Butchers (2003).

Though the filmmaker's trademark mix of black humour, drama and snappy dialogue hide it well, the films are actually inspired by The Book of Job, which deals with human suffering and redemption.

AT3 is no exception and sees a hardened criminal sent into trainee service with a minister, a position which drastically alters his view on life. It will shoot for eight weeks from July 19 with a strong cast including Mads Mikkelsen (King Arthur), Ulrich Thomsen (Inheritance) and Paprika Steen (Open Hearts).

Like The Green Butchers, which had its international premiere at the Toronto Film Festival where it was picked up for US distribution by Newmarket, AT3 is produced by M&M Productions and world sales will be handled by Nordisk Film International Sales.

Jensen, who won an Oscar for best short film Election Night in 1999, has also been a successful writer (In China They Eat Dogs, Old Men In New Cars) and co-writer (Open Hearts, Wilbur Wants To Kill Himself, Stealing Rembrandt) and last year picked up a special award from the Danish film critics for his contribution to Danish cinema.
