Jonny Greenwood, the BAFTA and Grammy-nominated musician and member of rock band Radiohead, will compose the soundtrack to Tran Anh Hung’s upcoming Norwegian Wood.
Greenwood previously composed the score for Paul Thomas Anderson’s There Will Be Blood which won the Ivor Novello Award for Best Original Film Score.
An adaptation of the Haruki Murakami novel, Norwegian Wood is produced by Japan’s Asmik Ace and Fuji Television with Fortissimo Films handling international rights. The film is in post-production and set for completion by early May.
“Once we had the first cut, it became clear that this film needed Jonny Greenwood’s music,” said Tran Anh Hung. “I’ve always admired his work. What he did besides Radiohead for PT Anderson and Bodysong was just awesome.”
Fortissimo has pre-sold Norwegian Wood to Lusomundo for Portugal, Vertigo for Spain, Serenity Entertainment International for Taiwan, P.C.V.S.A. for Greece, Mongkol Cinema for Thailand, Lumière for Benelux, Edko Films for Hong Kong, CP Digital for CIS and Cathay-Keris Films for Singapore and Brunei.
