Warner Bros' animated featureHappy Feet has passed the $10mmark on IMAX screens. The film opened November 17 on 79 IMAX screens in NorthAmerica and will eventually expand to a further 28 IMAX screensinternationally. Total worldwide gross in both conventional and large-format isapproaching $200m.
'We arevery pleased with the film's strong performance in both conventional and IMAXtheatres,' said Dan Fellman, president of domestic distribution at WarnerBros. Pictures said in statement. 'IMAX is, once again, proving itstheatres perform especially well during the holidays.'
'Thecombination of Happy Feet and the IMAX Experience has clearly captured the hearts ofmoviegoers this holiday season,' said Greg Foster, chairman and president,IMAX Filmed Entertainment in a statement. 'We are thrilled that the filmhas already reached this milestone in IMAX theatres. This accomplishment can beattributed to Warner Bros. Pictures' talent for marketing.
