Despite the fact that the appointment, in January 2000, of producer Lars Hermann as head of development for the Danish Film Institute was widely approved by the local industry, he has decided to move on to head up Nordisk Film's new conglomeration of it's post-production facilities ShortCut and Johan Ankerstjerne A/S, now called FilmTeknik A/S. ShortCut will continue as a brand for the company's digital activities.
When Hermann moves to Nordisk on October 15, he will be returning to the company he left as a producer, when he moved to the Danish Film Institute. Hermann has a background in shipping for major A.P.Moller, and attended the Danish Film School. He produced Eye of the Eagle (1997), Olsenbandens Sidste Stik (1998) and Jan Troell's As White As In Snow (2001) for Nordisk Film. The latter will make its North American premiere at the upcoming film festival in Toronto.
With its 70 employees, the new FilmTeknik outfit will become the biggest post-production house for features, commercials and TV in Denmark. "In this business technology is developing at an incredible speed, and the balance between what is on a piece of celluloid or on a hard-disc shifts all the time," said Lars Hermann in a statement. "It will be a great challenge for me and my staff, to make sure the company is at the cutting edge of this development, and at the same time provide the best possible service at competitive prices."
