Andrew Herwitz’ Film Sales Company has picked up US sales rights to Dilip Mehta’s directorial debut Cooking With Stella ahead of this evening’s (September 16) world premiere in Toronto.

Mehta co-wrote the screenplay with his sister Deepa, who produced with her producing partner David Hamilton.

Seema Biswas stars alongside Don McKellar, Lisa Ray and newcomer Shriya Saran in an upstairs-downstairs comedy centering on the lives of domestic staff at a diplomatic residence in New Delhi.

Biswas starred in Deepa Mehta’s Water, which received its world premiere in Toronto 2005.
