The Paramount / Nickelodeon Movies hit animation will receive the festival’s Hollywood Animation Award at the gala ceremony in Beverly Hills on Oct 24.

Previous recipients include the Pixar roster of Cars, Ratatouille, Toy Story, Wall-E and UP. Rango grossed $242m worldwide and marks the first time Industrial Light & Magic has ventured into animation.

Gore Verbinski directed and the voice cast features Johnny Depp, Ray Winstone, Alfred Molina and Timothy Olyphant. Verbinski’s Blind Wink Productions, Graham King and John Carls produced.
