Hyde Park International has boarded Kirk Wong’s upcoming action thriller SIX as executive producer and will handle worldwide sales excluding Greater China.
China’s OK101, Fantawild Film Industry Investment, Asia Entertainment Media and state-backed fund National Film Capital (NFC) are co-producing the film which is scheduled to start shooting in China and Louisiana in November 2012. The cast will include Hollywood and Asian stars.
Described as a martial arts action thriller with manga elements, the film is written by Li Feng, whose credits include Hero, Erik Martinez and Doug Brode.
The story follows a mad scientist who has created five hybrid creatures by fusing human and animal genes together, which gives them animal-like capabilities to fight. The five must join together when a another of their kind, known as Six, begins to hunt them down to harness their powers.
Originally from Hong Kong, Wong is a martial arts action veteran with credits including Crime Story, starring Jackie Chan, The Gunmen, Rock & Roll Cop and The Big Hit, starring Mark Wahlberg.
“I am excited to work with such a talented filmmaker as Kirk in bringing Asian mysticism to Western commercial cinema,” said Hyde Park Entertainment Group chairman Ashok Amritraj.
