Ian Foster has been named managing director, Universal Pictures UK, a division of home entertainment company Universal Pictures International Entertainment.

Foster had been commercial director at Entertainment UK Ltd and previously served as managing director of Demon Music Group.

He is based in London and reports to UPIE president Eddie Cunningham.

Foster takes the post as Johnny Fewings, who had been interim UK managing director for the past nine months, is appointed to the new role of VP of strategic initiatives.

He will work on projects including innovation, HD DVD strategy, and anti-piracy initiatives.
