Icon Film Distribution has acquired UK and Australasian rights to the Gladiators V Werewolves:Edge Of Empire from UK-based AV Pictures.
Edge of Empire is the first part of epic action trilogy Gladiators V Werewolves and is set in AD160 when Rome occupied Britain. It is a story about the discovery of a ferocious tribe of werewolves who are captured and made to fight against the gladiators of ancient Rome. The film is written and will be directed by Rob Green and is due to go into production later this year.
AV Pictures has also concluded deals for the film in the CIS and the Baltic States (Cinemax), China (ERG Media, Middle East (Eagle), Turkey (Horizon), Singapore (Shaws) and Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, India, Indonesia & Vietnam (PT Parkit). The company is also in negotiations on other key territories.
Those working behind the scenes include special make-up & creature effects artist Shaune Harrisson, who has worked on the three most recent Harry Potter films and Star Wars Episode II, second unit director of photography Peter Field (Quantum of Solace, Hot Fuzz, Troy and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider) and visual effects producer Tim Field (Batman Begins, 28 Weeks Later).
