Icon has closed deals on key territory sales for Academy Award winner Adam Elliot's Sundance opener, Mary And Max.
Mary And Max, which is produced by Melanie Coombs, will compete in the Generation 14plus section of the 2009 Berlinale.
Gaumont has picked up distribution rights to the clay animation feature for France, Benelux and Switzerland.
François Clerc, head of theatrical distribution at Gaumont, said: 'Adam Elliot is the kind of writer/director the French audience truly needs to discover. Gaumont is very proud to share this experience with him, Melanie Coombs and Icon.'
Other territories sold include CIS, Greece, Czech Republic and the Middle East.
The Sundance 2009 opener tells of a pen-pal relationship between Mary Dinkle (Toni Collette), a chubby, lonely 8-year-old living in the suburbs of Melbourne, Australia and Max Horovitz (Hoffman), an obese, 44-year-old Jewish man with Asperger's Syndrome living in New York City. The voices of Collette, Seymour Hoffman, Barry Humphries and Eric Bana all feature.

Other titles being represented by Icon in the Berlin market include Julie Taymor's The Tempest starring Helen Mirren, Triangle starring Melissa George and Infestation starring Christopher Marquette.
