Icon Film International (IEI) has picked up worldwide sales rights to How I Spent My Summer Vacation as part of their first look deal with Mel Gibson and Bruce Davey’s Icon Productions.
Gibson will star in the film, which he has co-written with Adrian Grunberg and Stacey Perskie, about a career criminal caught by Mexican authorities who is sent to a prison run by gangs.
Grunberg, who was the first assistant director on Gibson’s Apocalypto, will direct the film, which is being produced by Bruce Davey and Stacy Perskie.
The film is due to start shooting on location in Mexico in March.
IEI will handle all international sales for the title, excluding North America/Canada which will be handled by Icon Productions.
Icon will distribute the film in the UK, Ireland and Australia and New Zealand.
