Icon Film Distribution has acquired UK theatrical and home entertainment rights to Ken Loach's new feature, Looking For Eric, shooting now on location in Manchester.
Wild Bunch is selling the film, which came about through a series of conversations between Loach, writer Paul Laverty, footballer Eric Cantona and producer Rebecca O'Brien. The project is 'inspired by the foot-balling genius of Eric Cantona and his very special relationship with all who love football.'
The story follows Eric, a Manchester-based postman who finds himself in a personal crisis because of his broken heart and chaotic family life.
Steve Evets, Stephanie Bishop and John Henshaw star.
Hugo Grumbar, president of IFD, said: 'Following our distribution of Sweet Sixteen and Ae Fond Kiss, Icon Films is delighted to be working with Ken, Paul and Rebecca again on such an exciting project.'
Looking for Eric is a Canto Bros, Sixteen Films, Why Not Productions and Wild Bunch presentation. Co-producers are Les Films de Fleuve and BIM. Other financiers include Film4, France 2, North West Vision Media and Icon Films.
Icon's other forthcoming releases include Priceless, Man On Wire, The Box and The Road.
