IDFA (The International Documentary Festival Amsterdam) will present a documentary program in Shanghai in May.
The event, running May 13-16, will be held at the Dutch Culture Center in Shanghai, which opened in March for the World Expo.
The programme will include 10 documentaries that were shown at IDFA in Amsterdam: The Player, Farewell, Time Within Time, Boris Ryzhy, The Underground Orchestra, Food Inc., Constantin and Elena, A Hundred Patients of Dr. Jia, Utopia Part 3: The World’s Largest Shopping Mall, and Gipsy in the Flower.
Director John Appel and producer Carmen Cobos from IDFA award winner The Player will give a masterclass on documentary making.
Also, IDFA is working with the DCC to present two other Chinese programmes in coming months: at the MIDA documentary festival in Shanghai; and at the Ullens Centre for Contemporary Arts in Peking.
Finally, IDFA TV, the online channel, will present a themed programme of films from and about China.
